Spring Cleanup / Range Closure
The Rifle, Pistol, and Black Powder ranges are closed until 1pm.
It’s that time of year again. The outdoor rifle, pistol, and black powder ranges will be closed for cleanup starting at 9AM until 1PM. Volunteers are encouraged to help for a $25 credit on their 2026 dues. We are looking for about 20 people to help. This year we need more participation from younger rifle shooters. Tool recommendations are gloves, rakes, shovels, hay/mulch rakes, gas weed wackers, wheelbarrows, etc. Woodwork repair will be done to the rifle target basses and other areas so appropriate tools for that as well.

Massachusetts / Federal Gun Law & Regulation for the MA residents/LEO/Retailers.
This seminar explains state and federal laws and regulation in layperson terms with a focuses on the Mandates, Changes, and Effects of Chapter 135 of the Acts of 2024. Students will explore applicable MGL and CMR as it pertains to definitions, gun purchase, possession, transport, record keeping requirements, buying/selling, interstate transport, interstate purchase, ammunition storage and best practices for gun owners.
Jon Green has been the Director of Education and Training for Gun Owners’ Action League since 1999. He served on the NSSF Range Advisory Committee for 4 years and has owned and managed FFL 01 Businesses. He has taught similar classes to thousands of citizens, hundreds of Mass State Police BFS Certified Instructors, Massachusetts Hunter Education Instructors and Massachusetts Environmental Police Officers.

The club will collect an $11 donation via registration from all attendees. The club usually rounds this up to $1,000 to be donated to GOAL.

The indoor range will be closed to shooting during the class. The scheduled Jr. Rifle night is not affected.
Seating is limited and there will be no refunds for cancellations due to food prepayment. Your registration fee will be donated to GOAL.
There will be a check-in list when you enter the hall. Only those who have paid for a seat may attend. If you also purchased the buffet you will get a plate ticket at check-in.
The class will start at 6pm so please try and be on time. The class lasts about 3 hours depending on questions.

OCSA Intro to Practical Shooting April 2026
This is a 5 - 6hr course consisting of instruction followed by intense training/practice on the range. Please report to the IDPA pits at the rear of the club. Please do not drive to the pits unless authorized to do so by the staff.
Emphasis will be on teaching shooters who are new to IDPA to navigate a course of fire safely and efficiently. Students will learn the terminology and range commands used in the sport of IDPA.

Summer League Rifle Match
200 yards using any safe functioning rifle type and any sights: Scope or Iron.
Any caliber that is suitable for 200 yards and meets host range requirements.
ELIGIBILITY: You do not need to be a member of a club in the South Shore League, Rifle or Pistol, to shoot in the summer offhand matches but you do need to shoot for only one team during the season. Shooters from clubs who do not have teams entered in the summer league may make arrangements to shoot on any team. Match fee is $3 per night.
Rules for other rifle positions during match:
100 yard range is open to other club members during the match but target changing only occurs in between relays of the match.
The match takes up all of the 200 yard shooting positions including the two positions next to the rifle house outside.
The summer rifle matches are organized by the South Shore Rifle & Pistol League.

OCSA OPEN HOUSE & FAMILY DAY
This years OCSA Family Day event will be held on Sunday, October 11th , 2026 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. All ranges will be closed to regular use until 2PM. We have had a great turnout of volunteers in the past and we welcome more! We would appreciate members helping with the following:
Firearms for guest to use along with your time on the line to educate proper use and safety of firearm, as well as supervision.
Meet and greet people to provide general directions to disciplines as well as talking about our club, membership, etc.
Ammunition for all calibers would be appreciated.
Administrative help to aid in registration, checking for needs on the line etc.
Photos and short videos that the club can use may be uploaded HERE.

The Schuetzen came to America with German immigrants and is used in challenging long-range competition. Its German root is from the word Schütze which can be translated as “shooter.” The Schuetzen is both a rifle and a style of competition steeped in European shooting tradition. The original Schuetzens that arrived with German immigrants were muzzle loaders. Breech Loading Schuetzens are now the rule in competition. Matches are shot at 200 yards with a specialized Schuetzen target.
The OCSA 57th annual Schuetzenfest rifle match will take place on October 24 & 25, 2026. Spectators welcome!
All firing points are covered. Rifle range is closed to regular use both Saturday & Sunday during the match.
Saturday hours are 10AM to 4PM. Match held rain or shine.
Breakfast and Lunch are available in the main clubhouse

Registered Skeet Shoot
An NSSA Registered Skeet Shoot will be held on April 11, 2026 from 09:00 am to 5:00 pm. One hundred targets each for 12 gauge and 20 gauge. See the flyer for this event. For more information, contact Sean Macwalter (smacwalter@comcast.net.)

The Junior Rifle program is for people 10-20 years of age. The program works with experienced instructors and mainly uses .22 cal rifles on our 50ft indoor range. You do not need to be a club member to participate.

This year, the matches are held for 20 Sundays beginning on November 16, 2025 on the 200 Yard Range. Last match of the season is scheduled for 3/29/26. Matches begin at 10:00 AM and run until approximately 4:00 PM. Shooters do not need to be here at 10:00, Relays start approximately every 35 minutes, Sign up anytime before 3:00PM. The cost is three dollars per category. All matches are fired from the standing position. For questions contact George Snow

OCSA Intro to Practical Shooting March 2026
This is a 5 - 6hr course consisting of instruction followed by intense training/practice on the range. Please report to the IDPA pits at the rear of the club. Please do not drive to the pits unless authorized to do so by the staff.
Emphasis will be on teaching shooters who are new to IDPA to navigate a course of fire safely and efficiently. Students will learn the terminology and range commands used in the sport of IDPA.

Please note: We CANNOT guarantee squadding preferences. Your selected squad may change in order to balance the number of participants between squads.
